Julia Pott

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

About 1,5 years ago I was strolling around at Hit the Books in Antwerp, and among all the cool stuff I bought was a nice little zine called ‘I Am Hating This’ by Julia Pott. I’ve been a huge fan of her drawings ever since, I love the way she uses her pens and pencils and the little stories that seem to be in her illustrations.

On top of the wonderful drawing, Julia also is an animator. Here is my favorite film by her, a story about first crushes.

You can check out her website through the link above, read her blog here, or visit her Etsy shop to buy yourself some pretty cool stuff!

The Abominable Charles Christopher

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

I am not a huge fan of webcomics. But recently I stumbled upon the Abominable Charles Christopher by Karl Kerschl, and I was completely blown away!
The story is exquisitely drawn, and isn’t so much of a comic as more of a graphic novel in short episodes. It has an epic feel to it, and rapidly exchanges funny scenes with heartbreaking storylines.
I also like it very much because it reminds me of Miyazaki movies and some of the books I liked to read in my childhood.

The first page of the story is right here. Give it a try, you won’t be sorry you did.

Things I like, really really like

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

In this part of the site I want to post about.. you guessed it: things I like! In here this will however mostly refer to other artists whose work I love, and not to things like: hot cocoa, hiking through the forest, or the color green.

I hope you guys like whatever I like as well, enjoy!

Hema christmas cards set 2

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Christmas card design for Hema.
(my preferred design differs a little from the design they eventually went for,
I chose to display the original versions here)

Hema cards are out!

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

I made them almost a year ago, but had to keep them a secret until now. But the year has passed, and my cards hit the stores! You can buy them in sets of ten at a Hema store near you.

You can view the original designs in my Work section. To be specific, the designs for the first set are here, and for the second here. I preferred my original color-schemes and typography for the second set, so these are what I am showing on top of the printed cards. Merry christmas!
